I read all the reviews and almost did not order this device cause everyone seemed to say it was hard to set up and would not charge when in use. Boy am I glad I did not listen to them. This device is great. I was replacing a Sierra Wireless usb connect card on AT&T because my company would not get me a MIfi. I received it and it had a 4 step process to set up. 1. Install sim card. 2. Install battery and charge you can be charging it on a micro usb while you are setting it up). 3. Turn on. 4. Connect you device and enter provided security code from the sticker on the device. Wala. Connected. >> Click Here To Get The Best Price <<
Please note that my security id was in all caps it did not work the first time since I did not have my caps lock turned on, it is case sensitive. It is almost 4 times faster that my air card. I downloaded large programs on both devices for comparison. I just had a video chat with Face Time on my Ipad 2 and it was almost as freeze free as on my 10mbps internet service through my home wifi. As for the charging this device has a 1.2 amp charger. If you try and charge any high usage device on a computer usb it will be disabled to prevent damage to your computer...daaaa don't try and wire around this unless you want to damage your computer). Works fine while charging from any micro usb adapter. I would suggest one of a fairly high output or the battery might be slowly discharging while it is plugged in if the charger can't keep up with usage.
I am not tech savy and this is a no brainer to set up and use. I love it and now I can use my Ipad and computer at the same time anywhere. A 3g Ipad is a waste of money when you can buy this and use the same data plan on all you devices. Highly recommended, 5 stars.
AT&T Novatel Wireless MiFi 2372 Router, Great little Hotspot
First off, I have been building wireless telecom networks for all major carriers since 1996, so I speak from experience and expertise.I needed broadband service for a vacation home I purchased north of Reed City, MI, since my carrier Sprint and it's roaming partner had absolutly no service; neither voice or data at the location. When I discovered that ATT had a tower with UMTS (HSPA) 8.5 miles to the west of my location and another GSM (Edge)tower, 3.5 miles to my west I decided to purchase the ATT Novatel MiFi 2372.
The router works with ATT WiFi, HSPA, HSPDA and EDGE in all frequencies 700, 850, 1900, 2400. When I fired it up at the cottage near a west facing window, I was surprised to find that the router locked on the faster UMTS site 8.5 miles away, when I was expecting it to lock on to the closer and slower GSM EDGE site 3.5 miles away.
The downloads/uploads have been from between 3 and 4 meg down and 1 to 1.5 meg up though dense woods. For those in the business, who know that trees kill RF signals, especially from 8.5 miles away, the performance just blew me away. My wife and I can work off the router with little noticeable dropoff in performance. With 3 or more wireless devices, it does slow down though.
This is a testament to the improvement ATT has achieved in it's network and the quality of the equipment from it's equipment vendors over the last few years.
I would recommend the ATT Novatel MiFi 2372 to anyone seeking broadband service in difficult RF areas or for someone not yet in a market with LTE service.
